Toyota Optimal Drive
Toyota Optimal Drive delivers reduced emissions and enhanced efficiency without compromising power and driving pleasure.
Toyota Optimal Drive means minimising the impact on the environment and society while at the same time maximising the pleasure of owning a car.
It is standard in all core models, and allows Toyota to deliver average CO2 emissions of around 130 grams in 2009, which is the 2015 target.
How does it work?
Toyota Optimal Drive is applied through a range of upgraded diesel engines, new petrol engines and advanced transmissions to deliver reduced emissions and enhanced efficiency without compromising power and driving pleasure. Unlike many competitors we have focused on optimising our range of conventional engines across the car lines, rather than simply offering one specific ‘green’ model.
Conventional engines make up 85% of Toyota sales in Europe so this approach is more effective and increases customer choice.
The engine performance is optimised on three fronts:
- Combustion improvements
- Friction reduction
- Weight/size reduction
